Our purpose: To combine öteberi concept with time. To represent the human mind’s perception of time with road pictures and videos.
Birth of the Idea
When we thought about the idea of Öteberi, we acknowledged as “from past to future”. We wanted to focus on the time aspect of Öteberi. From one moment to another moment or time inside time. We decided photography is going to be our other medium with cinema.
Time is going to be manipulated by photography and video.
Line-up is like this:
Cinematographic Photography,
Cinemagram: Cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs, forming a video clip.
Time Lapse: Time-lapse photography is a technique whereby the frequency at which film frames are captured is much lower than that used to view the sequence.
Inspiration
This painting of Salvador Dali gave us the idea of melting objects with time. First object we thought was a candle. It melts and is a symbol of time on its own. We thought about three separate way of showing candles during the installation. Firstly, they were going to be melting candles during the time of installation. This would represent the current time. Second, a cinemagraph of a candle that burns but never melts, representing the future. And last a time lapse video of candles that represents the past.
We ditched that idea to found something more powerful object than candle. Something that shouldn’t melt.
After thinking about the idea more we ditched the melting idea completely. Instead we focused on the time and how it’s connected within itself as: past, present and future.
