Our purpose: To combine öteberi concept with time. To represent the human mind’s perception of time with road pictures and videos.
Content
How to represent time with images/video was the hardest part. We wanted to represent three different time periods, so we decided we are going to use three different screens for that.
To represent past time, we chose memories. Memories cannot be remembered perfectly therefore we chose to do distorted images.
To represent present time, we chose video. Because current time cannot be stopped or altered. It flows.
Future time in present, is a concept that is not clear where its leading. We can only predict the unknown.
Road
The concept of time being unstoppable and continuous lead us to being on road. It’s also connected to the idea of Öteberi.
Road-time relationship
Present time is irreversible and continuous. Therefore, we decided a road continuous road video.
Video of “David Lynch & Lykke Li - I'm Waiting Here” or other road footages were our examples for the idea.
To represent past present time, we decided to use distorted photos that were taken on the road.
To represent future in present time,
Future is independent from the present. It can only be a vision. We decided to use cinemagraph for that. A stationary road but the surroundings (sky, people, cars) are moving.
Note: We envisioned a cinemagraph, however, we couldn't do it on time. We will give you the cinemagraph as soon as possible.
Installation
Hanging the Time
Our work is separated into three different screens. We want these screens to stay in “time’s continuous flow.” We want to represent time through a person’s memory and his/her vision so we hanged these screens up on a hanger.
Planning the installation
Hanger will be bought from Ikea. To hang and connect the screens to each other we are going to use a stiff rope or iron cords. To ease up the connection we are going to attach stabilizers to back of screens. The ropes/strings that connect the screens to each other will be decorated with a silicone gun.
