I met Bihter to talk about ways to building the hierarchy of knowledge in the installation. We decided to create a fictional myth rather than using already existing ones so that spectator wouldn’t be familiar with the backstory of the object and so they will only identify with the story that we set up. First idea that we came up was to create our water jug we thought of a vitrified clay water jug with a handprint on the handle of it. The handprint was going to be the mark of the first possessor of the jug. but we decided not to because of the lack of time. We changed the third phase to personal iconolsm or upcycling. We talked about References like ancient crematory urns, sacred pottery of ancient agricultural societies, the Zoroastrian tradition of making wine in a ceramic amphora to a newborn for it to be poured up onto the its grave.

December 28, 2018 / Balat

We went to Balat for object scouting.

We visited antiquary auctions.

We found a ceramic pot similar to what we had in mind in Abar antique shop.

Than we saw the jug that is going to be used in the installation and after seeing our excitement Murat Abar, the owner of the shop, decided to gift it to us.

December 29, 2017/ Ortaköy

On the night of buying the jug from Balat, I was telling to my friend how Murat Abar decided to gift the jug to us and how the jug was gifted to him too. We thought this gifting journey was interesting because it was outside the boundaries of capitalist trade. I decided to shoot this story for the second video of the installation. Later that night, we were talking about death. The conversation inspired me to associate the object with death.

December 30, 2017/ Ortaköy

I met with Bihter to discuss the project. We arrange the pillars in a circle instead of a square.

January 2, 2018 / Balat- Ortaköy

I met with Bihter and Barış Uçar in Balat to shoot the second video of installation.

After I went home, I edited it.
